“Baddest guy, you shaa knack her well abi?”
“Sorry I didn’t. No reason to do it”
“Guy. So you spent money on a lady and you no knack am? Chai…guy you dey dull o. Na why all these girls dey prefer you. If na me, I go fire down, destroy her sharpener with my pencil and relax with yoghurt later.”
This is not one of my fairy tale writings but a reality that has come to plague me as days go by. Since this is not about me, I would address this issue from the perspective that will help you know where I stand at the end. I don’t understand why many people live with this mindset that every little favour done to a lady must be paid back with sex in some way. Like the lady owes them the duty of doing it and they will stop at nothing till they get it even if she consents or not.
This society is already messed up on so many fronts and although I see nothing wrong in two adults (male and female to be specific) doing whatever they mutually agree to do, I don’t subscribe to anyone taking advantage of the situation. For the lady, maybe if the guy is not always on you for sex, you capitalise on that and take undue advantage of his love for you. For the guy, we hardly see beyond boobs and a banging backside.
Many men have refused or stopped helping young ladies because the lady will think she is “eating” his money and tagging him as a mugu because he decides not to have you. Meanwhile, a broke Jambite rapper wannabe who has no secured future might be dancing kerewa inside and out of you. For the ladies, many of them have stopped visiting guys because even if it is a document she wants to pick, you will find a way of pressing boobs…LOL…chai…na milk you want?
Nobody is a fool on both fronts. Whoever allows you in their life has a reason for doing so. Don’t abuse friendships or take undue advantage of situations. However, if consent is obtained without duress or undue influence but purely on mutual agreement…na una business e don become then. Enjoy!!!
Till we get to the Promised Land, I shall be waiting for when you will pass me a glass of water and thank God for the gift of grace for the race.
