Martin Beck Nworah Sunday, July 23, 2017 3

This handshake with Professor Okey Ndibe at his book reading event yesterday renewed me in some way. Later on in the event, I got to ask him his opinion and advice for young people who see no hope in this nation. For my peers, to a large extent, we have lost hope in this entity and we want out.

The Prof was very realistic with his replies. If you get the opportunity of travelling and staying abroad, please do. But always remember, here is where you belong and you must sacrifice to make here better.

He later signed a copy of his book I bought and we exchanged a few words. In truth, growing up and wanting to succeed in some career path in Nigeria is difficult. No sugar coating. We know this reality. But what choice do we have?

If we have grit, we can grind through and achieve something.

Thanks to Nze Uche Nworah for always shining the light around here. Na better person you be Sir.

Till we get to the Promised Land, I shall be waiting for when you will pass me a glass of water and thank God for the gift of grace for the race.
