Martin Beck Nworah Monday, December 11, 2017 6

Someone sent me a text today; "Beck, you are an annoying friend dear to my heart. We may not talk everyday or even for weeks, but know this, you are made of everything awesome on this earth." I was emotionally lifted up by that message.

Let your friends celebrate you now you are alive. Let them write you all the sweet lines that makes sense to them in an Obituary brochure now you are alive to read and relish them.

In death, people will say how much of a good person you were while alive. But somehow, you might've died because nobody showed you enough care and love on this earth. But in death, everyone realises how much of an angel you were and how they should've treated you more kindly.

I am not in for all the sweet words at death, I won't read them. We are not even sure if books are available in the afterlife. And by the way, if I am permitted to bring one thing from this earth to the great beyond, it would be books.

So now that I am alive and aware of everything, write me all those sweet lines and tell me how much you love me. And to the people in your life, tell them how much you love them too. So that in death, the stories to be written must've taken flesh while the person was alive.

Till we get to the Promised Land, I shall be waiting for when you will pass me a glass of water and thank God for the gift of grace for the race.

  4. It's sad that people won't say all the sweet words they've got for you when you were alive but will start voicing them out at the news of your demise.

We ought to always say them as long as one lives when he/she can still read them to know they're actually loved by someone.

Thanks for this masterpiece Martin Beck.
